Help Komang fight Leukemia - Acute Phenotype
06 Aug 2018
Komang Kuniarto is married to Angela and father to Deo and El aged 16 and 6 years old. He is in hospital at NUH diagnosed with a rare form of acute leukemia called mixed phenotype. With little medical insurance, they are struggling to cover the cost of his treatments.
Leukemia is a type of cancer that attacks blood-forming cells in the bone marrow. Leukemias that spread quickly are called acute leukemias. The fast-moving nature of mixed phenotype acute leukemia means it is especially crucial for people who are newly diagnosed to be treated quickly.
Mixed phenotype acute leukemia is rare, representing just 5% of all acute leukemia cases.
Komang has undergone emergency intensive chemotherapy with side effects. He is suffering from blurred vision due to bleeding on the retina. Komang is still struggling with high fevers and severe headaches. He will undergo his second CTC scan today to find the cause. Komang's treatment will involve multiple rounds of chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, radiation therapy and targeted therapy.
Fighting this disease needs courage and strong will. Komang will be fighting with his family and friends like you! Let us give Komang our support and love.
